The Megaspace is conventionally divided into the Spinward and Antispinward regions, with Mega itself in the middle. Technically, the Kinac Empire is yet another region.

There are 1000 light years between Earth? and Mega and another 1000 from Mega to the border of the Kinac Empire. Before the Kinac Wars (see: Recent history) this distance was considered huge, but with recent Hyperdrive advancements travel time has been reduced to about 900 kiloseconds.

Besides the nine homeworlds, the Megaspace comprises an estimated 1000 populated planets, ranging from large self-sufficient colonies to tiny outposts. No definitive census exists.
