Deflector Shields

Deflector shields are a sophisticated application of pseudo-gravity, consisting of a network of emitters scattered across the surface of the protected object (usually a starship). The emitters generate interlocking pseudogravity fields that attempt to accelerate incoming impactors tangentially to the ship's hull. Naturally, this works best against relatively small impactors and glancing hits.
