Buran
As a rocket scientist and university teacher, Vasily Bakunov built a highly advanced jet-pack (and body armor to go with it) as demonstration for his students. But when the University was attacked by terrorists, only his rapid intervention prevented an outright massacre. Realizing that his inventions can be more than academic toys, he now fights crime as the superhero Buran. Only the authorities know his real identity.
Tau
Ever since his days as a student, Teodor Tăun cared about exactly two things: body-building and mountaineering. Life in the mountains combined with his steroid regime and yet unknown genetic factors to confer Tau extraordinary strength. With that and his specially modified rock-climbing equipment, he was repeatedly able to stand in for whole search&rescue squads. That brought him a reputation as a superhero, but he doesn't see himself as one.
Erika Schoenburg
She never wanted to be a superhero. A top athlete during high school, she went on to study medicine at a top university. Ambition pushed her to try - and later abuse - a unique combination of brain enhancement drugs. They worked, but not in the way she expected. All her body functions started accelerating, until she could think and move two or three times as fast as any normal human. Which not only hinders her when talking to people, it's also threatening to kill her early. But she insists to follow the Hippocratic Oath. So now she divides her time between saving lives and researching anti-aging drugs.
