One thing I hear often from people making Web pages is that CSS-based layouts are too difficult. The usual reasons given are browser quirks and/or CSS limitations.
Easy CSS Layouts is a tutorial demonstrating how the most typical website layout can be trivially implemented in CSS, whitout ever running into said quirks.
The advantages are: less work for the designer; less work for the programmer (where applicable) and much better search engine indexing thanks to semantic markup.

Compatibility
Dillo is enough to read the tutorial, but you'll need a class A browser to follow the examples. If using Opera, switch to full screen to enable Slideshow mode.
