Interactive fiction: any form of storytelling which requires the public to take part, usually by guiding the protagonist along. As some may consider this definition too broad, I'll point out that most IF today comes in the form of text adventures. A few video games, notably Myst and Façade, are generally regarded as falling into the same category.
